Pray for our Country

Happy Sunday,

It’s good to be back in the U.S. after our parish pilgrimage. It was a beautiful opportunity to visit Holy Sites around Italy. I offered Mass regularly for our whole parish community in Rome, Assisi, and San Giovanni Rotundo (where Padre Pío lived). While it’s good to be back, unfortunately, I will be on the move quite a bit in November.

Last weekend I had a death in my family so this weekend after the Saturday evening Mass I am heading to Nebraska to preside at the funeral and burial. I will return Tuesday night and be back in the parish on Wednesday. The following Monday, November 11, I will be heading on my retreat. Please keep me in your prayers as I take my annual silent retreat. I will be praying for you all regularly and offering Mass for the parish.

Please also keep our country in your prayers during this election time. While it is often very contentious, we are called to perform our civic duty of voting and act in charity in all things. We want to pray especially for the dignity of human life to be honored and respected in all it's forms.

Es bueno estar de vuelta en los Estados Unidos después de nuestra peregrinación parroquial. Fue una hermosa oportunidad para visitar los lugares sagrados de toda Italia. Ofrecí misas regularmente para toda nuestra comunidad parroquial en Roma, Asís y San Giovanni Rotundo (donde vivió el Padre Pío). Si bien es bueno estar de vuelta, desafortunadamente, estaré viajando bastante en noviembre. El fin de semana pasado, falleció un familiar, así que este fin de semana, después de la misa del sábado por la noche, me dirigiré a Nebraska para presidir el funeral y el entierro. Regresaré el martes por la noche y estaré de nuevo en la parroquia el miércoles. El lunes siguiente, 11 de noviembre, me iré a mi retiro. Por favor, manténganme en sus oraciones mientras realizo mi retiro anual de silencio. Estaré orando por todos ustedes regularmente y ofreciendo misa por la parroquia.

Por favor, también tengan a nuestro país en sus oraciones durante este tiempo de elecciones. Si bien suele ser muy polémico, estamos llamados a cumplir con nuestro deber cívico de votar y actuar con caridad en todo. Queremos rezar especialmente para que se honre y respete la dignidad de la vida humana en todas sus formas.
