Happy Sunday!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Lessons and Carols Concert this past Friday to support the restoration of Nativity. I am grateful for the momentum we are building, especially as we anticipate its 100th anniversary in 2030. The parish of Nativity was around before, but this will be the anniversary of the church building. On that note we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opening of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 2026.

This Sunday is Gaudete Sunday, called such for the opening antiphon which exclaims, “Rejoice in the Lord always! I say it again, rejoice!” In this season of Advent we focus on preparing for the Lord, but this Sunday also reminds us that we are to rejoice because the Lord is near! In fact, today marks 10 days until Christmas Day! I pray that everyone will be able to continue prayerfully through this season in the great anticipation of the Birth of Christ.

Please join us next Saturday evening at Nativity for another benefit concert. This time we will welcome Floriani who sang at our Sunday Masses in the beginning of November. The evening will begin at 6:30pm on the Sat, Dec 21 at Nativity. This is a free will offering and proceeds will be split between Nativity restoration and the work of Floriani. We hope you can join us!

Gracias a todos los que asistieron al Concierto de Lecciones y Villancicos el viernes pasado para apoyar la restauración de la Natividad. Estoy agradecido por el impulso que estamos generando, especialmente porque anticipamos el centenario de la Natividad en 2030. La parroquia de la Natividad ya existía antes, pero este será el aniversario de la construcción de la iglesia. En ese sentido, celebraremos el centenario de la apertura de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en 2026.

Este domingo es el Domingo de Gaudete, llamado así por la antífona de apertura que exclama: “¡Regocijaos en el Señor siempre! Lo repito: ¡Regocijaos!”. En esta temporada de Adviento nos centramos en prepararnos para el Señor, pero este domingo también nos recuerda que debemos regocijarnos porque el Señor está cerca. De hecho, ¡hoy se cumplen 10 días hasta el día de Navidad! Rezo para que todos puedan continuar en oración durante esta temporada en la gran anticipación del Nacimiento de Cristo.

Únase a nosotros el próximo sábado por la noche en La Natividad para otro concierto benéfico. Esta vez le daremos la bienvenida a Floriani, quien cantó en nuestras misas dominicales a principios de noviembre. La velada comenzará a las 6:30pm el día sábado, 21 de diciembre en La Natividad. Esta es una ofrenda voluntaria y las ganancias se dividirán entre la restauración de La Natividad y el trabajo de Floriani. ¡Esperamos que puedan acompañarnos!
