Resuming Ordinary Time: Following the Lord's Call

Happy Sunday!

    I hope everyone has had a great week. This Sunday we resume Ordinary Time after celebrating the Presentation of the Lord last Sunday. Our Gospel presents us with the great catch of fish by the disciples and the Lord's invitation to follow Him.

    I'm struck by the fact that the Lord gives Peter and the disciples success in their worldly endeavors, but immediately after that success, He calls them to leave it behind. It's as if He is telling them that He has the power to make all their endeavors succeed, but they should not put their trust in that. Rather, He has a greater mission that He wants to invite them into. It is something that will not bring them wealth and power, but rather the joy of the kingdom. "From now on you will be catching men."

    The Lord desires to redeem our own daily work as well. This week we can take time to offer the Lord our work, our time, whatever we have, asking Him to transform it according to His will.

Reanudación del Tiempo Ordinario: Siguiendo la llamada del Señor

¡Feliz domingo!

Espero que todos hayan tenido una gran semana. Este domingo retomamos el Tiempo Ordinario luego de celebrar la Presentación del Señor el domingo pasado. Nuestro Evangelio nos presenta la gran pesca de los discípulos y la invitación del Señor a seguirlo.

Me sorprende el hecho de que el Señor les da a Pedro y a los discípulos éxito en sus esfuerzos mundanos, pero inmediatamente después de ese éxito los llama a dejarlo atrás. Es como si les estuviera diciendo que Él tiene el poder de hacer que todos sus esfuerzos tengan éxito, pero que no deben poner su confianza en eso. Más bien, Él tiene una misión más grande a la que quiere invitarlos. Es algo que no les traerá riqueza ni poder, sino más bien la alegría del reino. "Desde ahora serán pescadores de hombres."

El Señor desea redimir también nuestro propio trabajo diario. Esta semana podemos tomarnos un tiempo para ofrecerle al Señor nuestro trabajo, nuestro tiempo, lo que sea que tengamos, pidiéndole que lo transforme según Su voluntad.
