Happy Sunday! Happy Labor Day Weekend to everyone! I pray everyone is staying safe and enjoying a restful weekend. This weekend's first reading comes from the book of Sirach. Sirach belongs to the Wisdom literature of the Bible. The author offers the listener simple and important advice. "My child, conduct your affairs with humility, and you will be loved more than a giver of gifts.

Humble yourself the more, the greater you are, and you will find favor with God." Humility is the way to find favor with God according to the author. Why is this so? Because God always shows us the way of littleness and humility. His way is not the way of the world which seeks to exert itself over others.

This is what our Blessed Mother exemplifies for us in her Magnificat, "He has cast down the mighty from their thrones and lifted up the lowly" It can often seem counterproductive to live in this manner, we might feel as though we are getting behind or losing ground. However, we also know that when we meet people who exemplify true humility, there is something very attractive about their life and a great freedom these people experience.

Elevados por la humildad: Sabiduría de Sirach

¡Feliz domingo!

¡Feliz fin de semana del Día del Trabajo a todos! Espero que todos se encuentren bien y disfruten de un fin de semana tranquilo. La primera lectura de este fin de semana proviene del libro del Eclesiásti- co. El Eclesiástico pertenece a la literatura sapien- cial de la Biblia. El autor ofrece al oyente un consejo sencillo e importante: «Hijo mío, en tus asuntos procede con humildad y te amaran mas que al hombre dadivoso.

Hazte tanto más pequeño cuanto más grande seas y hallarás gracia ante el Señor». La humildad es el camino para hallar favor ante Dios, según el autor. ¿Por qué? Porque Dios siem- pre nos muestra el camino de la pequenez y de la humildad. Su camino no es el camino del mundo, que busca imponerse a los demas.

Esto es lo que nuestra Santisima Madre nos ejemplifica en su Magnificat: "Derriba del trono a los poderosos y enaltece a los humildes.". A menudo puede parecer contraproducente vivir de esta manera; podemos sentir que nos quedamos atrás o que perdemos terreno. Sin embargo, también sabemos que cuando conocemos personas que ejemplifican la verdadera humildad, hay algo muy atractivo en su vida y una gran libertad que estas personas experi- mentan.

¡Que cada uno de nosotros siga creciendo en humildad y santidad! Que tengan una excelente semana y sepan que rezo por ustedes.
